Rising Star HYDRA Launches New Melodic & Afrohouse Imprint Suru Records

HYDRA, a rising force in the Afro House scene, is set to launch his new label, Suru Records, this summer. The move comes at a pivotal moment in his career, aligning with his expanding event schedule and debut releases on esteemed labels like OVAVA Music. For Hydra, this is a natural evolution, one that will take his sound to a global stage.

The label’s debut release, ‘Bamidele’, is already gaining international momentum. A powerful, groove-driven track, it fluidly navigates the underground scene while maintaining crossover appeal, marking HYDRA as one of the most exciting new talents to watch. Known for his hypnotic fusion of deep-rooted African rhythms and cutting-edge electronic soundscapes, Hydra’s productions masterfully weave percussive grooves, atmospheric melodies, and emotive storytelling into an immersive dancefloor experience.

“Bamidele,” meaning “Follow me home” in Yoruba, is a powerful tribute to heritage and a symbolic return to roots. For DJ Hydra, it’s a deeply personal release, a journey back to origin, identity, and self, inviting listeners to unite on his musical mission.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Black Coffee and Keinemusik, HYDRA has spent years refining a signature sound that resonates in both intimate clubs and major festival arenas. His mission? To push Afro House to new heights and redefine its boundaries. Adding to his momentum, DJ Hydra has recently been signed to UK-based OVAVA Music, a label helmed by renowned DJ and producer Ollie Mundy. Since its launch, OVAVA has rapidly gained traction as a hub for cutting-edge electronic music, delivering a festival-ready soundtrack and breaking new talent with each release. Upon hearing DJ Hydra’s early demos, Mundy immediately signed two tracks, recognising his distinctive sound and artistic vision as a perfect fit for OVAVA’s artist-focused ethos.

With OVAVA already making waves through releases like Ollie Mundy’s ‘Kirima’ feat. Nes Mburu and Natalie Jane’s Afro-House debut ‘Amanea’, DJ Hydra’s upcoming singles will further cement the label’s influence in the genre.

Reflecting on OVAVA’s evolution, Ollie Mundy shares,

“It’s been incredibly exciting to see the label’s growth, and connecting with HYDRA, is exactly why we built this platform, to bring together like-minded artists who are truly about the music.” With his globally recognised Bloop Radio show and standout Burning Man sets, Mundy’s ability to scout and elevate talent remains unparalleled.

As DJ Hydra gears up for a breakout year, ‘Bamidele’ is set to be a defining release for both himself and Suru Records. Fans can expect a full-scale promotional rollout, including exclusive previews, DJ support from major industry names, and limited-edition social drops leading into what promises to be a massive summer season ahead.
